The Ingersoll-Blackwelder House was left abandoned in the late 1960s and was nearly demolished until John (“Jack”) and Marjorie Simmerling “rescued” the home in 1970. Jack Simmerling, who passed away in 2013, was obsessed with old houses and architecture his entire life. You can read more about him and the collections he amassed here.
